They'll Never Catch Us by Jessica Goodman

A twisty-turny whodoneit, Jessica Goodman’s They’ll Never Catch Us is a compelling exploration of sisterhood, secrets, and the lengths athletes will go to in order to win.

Narrated in turns by the Steckler sisters, Stella and Ellie, the story unfolds in the school year after Stella was involved in a highly publicized altercation with another cross-country competitor.

The cross-country team at Edgewater High has been in the news before, and not just for capturing state and regional titles. Edgewater runners have been murdered in the past, and when a new teammate of Stella and Ellie’s goes missing, the town is on edge.

Stella, a cross-country team captain, is under a lot of scrutiny. Ellie, whose bond with

her sister isn’t as strong as it used to be, is harboring secrets of her own. Will the missing runner be found before it’s too late? Has the killer of Edgewater runners returned? Is Stella in danger of being framed?

They’ll Never Catch Us kept me up late (no joke) flipping pages well past my bedtime.
